Silica Gel
Despite its name, Silica Gel is actually a solid compound. In the compressed air industry silica gel is not a very effective adsorbent in drying systems. The colour changing silica gel, however, can be very useful in moisture indication systems (when silica gel is water saturated, it changes from blue to pink or orange to green depending on your selection). Silica gel is available in colour changing orange or blue, as well as clear (not colour changing). Activated Carbon
Activated Carbon is normally used in pellet form for oil removal in a compressed air system such as terminal filters or activated carbon towers, especially for breathing air applications. MS4A (or MS512) Molecular Sieve
MS4A Molecular Sieve is normally used as the adsorbtion media in desiccant dryers for low dew point critical applications (-20°C to -70°C pressure dew point applications). MS4A is normally available in 3-5mm balls for desiccant dryer applications, but is available in different sizes & forms (such as pellets or powders). Unlike F200, MS4A does emulsify in liquid & can dissolve inot a thick paste/liquid. Different grades of Molecular Sieve are available for a wide variety of applications on request. F200 Activated Alumina
Activated Alumina is normally used as the adsorbtion media in desiccant dryers for general purpose applications (-3°C to -20°C pressure dew point applications). F200 is normally available in 4-6mm balls for desiccant dryer applications, but is available in different sizes. F200 is also very tough & does not emulsify in liquid (as opposed to molecular sieve). Different grades of Activated Alumina can also be used for removing arsenic and flouride from drinking water as well as a polishing agent for industrial waste water.
